Water purification machine in Gaza

Thank you, everyone! Your donations to the “Water Purification Project in Gaza” have resulted in its realization.

Here’s a bit of an explanation about Gaza.

Gaza is surrounded by a “Separation Wall” that was put in place by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). Palestinians can’t get out of Gaza. It’s been more than 10 years since they’ve been completely closed off. Some call it “a jail without a ceiling.” It is a hell on earth, from which there is no escape, and where bombs occasionally fall. The mass media calls it a war between Israel and Palestine, but in truth, it is a completely different situation.

Access to water in Gaza is a serious problem; it’s more serious than even air strikes. The WHO says that Gaza won’t last for more than 4 to 5 more years because its water contains salt and, moreover, it is not sanitary. If Gazans keep drinking this salty water it will result in serious kidney damage. Also, almost 100% of the children in Gaza have parasites caused by unsanitary drinking water.

They could have pure, non-saline water if they were able to dig deeper wells, but the IDF prohibits them from doing this.

(As you can tell by now, Palestine is an occupied territory — there is no war between equal states.)

When Earth Caravan received an SOS letter from a doctor in Gaza that asked for a water purification machine, we started fundraising for this purpose. Unfortunately, the doctor who wrote to us passed away in 2018.

(You can read more about the SOS letter from the Palestinian doctor here.)

Now that the water purification machine is operational, the lives of at least 1,000 people have been saved.

Thank you very much for your participation.

We hope you will continue to support Earth Caravan.

P.S.: There’s just been an air strike on Gaza. We wonder whether the boys in this picture are OK.
